We are different from many other private equity investors where we recognise the power of combining a flexible time horizon with an intense focus on value creation.
As investors, our objective is to generate excellent returns. We do this by being discerning in our choice of businesses, applying our XMultiplier methodology, and dedicated to our ownership of them.
Each year we evaluate a large number of opportunities to identify one or two that are compelling.

We appreciate the limitations of traditional private equity and set out to build a firm dedicated to building great businesses, thoughtfully and purposefully, in partnership with outstanding management teams.
Our Focus
We operate in the lower mid-market of closely held New Zealand companies, which typically means we invest in businesses with an enterprise value of between $10 million and $25 million per transaction as we like the combination of quality and opportunity that these businesses can represent.
Having looked at and worked with many mid-market companies over 18 years, we understand the challenges privately owned businesses typically face.

In partnership with talented business owners and management teams, Curo Capital makes control equity investments in successful, growth-oriented, lower middle market companies. These companies have attractive market positions in industries with growing primary demand. We provide strategic and tactical assistance, along with company-building investments, to evolve these businesses into scalable platforms.
Our partnership approach seeks to ensure philosophical and economic alignment with business owners and management teams. The shared goal is to strategically invest to build and scale great companies. We also share best practices across our portfolio and provide access to our extensive network of in-house and third-party resources. We actively participate at the board level, while providing management with the flexibility and autonomy to run the business and execute the mutually agreed-upon strategy.
